How to install your eSIM before you fly

The easiest time to set up a travel eSIM is at home, on Wi-Fi, a day or two before you leave. Installing it does not start the plan on most networks; it starts when the eSIM first connects in your destination.
On an iPhone
- Open your eSIM in your Simvaya dashboard and choose Install, or scan the QR code with another screen.
- Follow the prompts and give the eSIM a label, such as "Travel".
- When asked, keep your main line as the default for calls and texts.
- Leave Allow cellular data switching off so your home SIM is not used for data abroad.
On Android
- Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs (the menu name varies by brand) and choose to add an eSIM.
- Scan the QR code from your dashboard, or enter the details shown there.
- Keep the new eSIM switched off until you land.
When you land
Turn the travel eSIM on, set it as the line for mobile data, and switch on data roaming for that eSIM only. Roaming on the travel eSIM is what lets it connect to local networks; it does not add charges.
Do not delete the eSIM while you are still travelling. Most eSIMs cannot be installed a second time.
